Welcome to APICS NYC-LI Chapter!
President's Message
Are you tired of being reminded that cost walks on two legs? We have found a gentleman who, on the evening of March 9th at Panama Hatties, will be speaking about reducing something other than labor costs. James V. Kelly will speak on a subject entitled "Green Sourcing Can Yield Big Savings". This is a current topic that has gained an enormous amount of traction recently.I attended the February 24th dinner meeting in Manhattan where speaker, Abate O. Kassa, CPM, in his presentation on Value Analysis made a point to remind us that Design Engineering and Marketing have important roles to play in ensuring that those features we design into our products really are things that are valued by our customers. There is only so much that the supply chain can "lean" out of an over designed product. I do want to thank Andrew Trager and the people at ADP on the 23rd floor of ONE PENN PLAZA for once again providing us with a fine facility right next to the most convenient transportation hub in the city.
The NYC-LI APICS LinkedIn group is growing. When we established this in the fall, I set a goal of one hundred members by the end of our fiscal year on June 30th. I admit that the goal was not based on intense quantitative research, but pulled out of thin air. With current membership exceeding ninety, it looks like my target may not have been particularly aggressive after all. It is a good way to exchange information and start your own discussions. I am getting and accepting requests from recruiters who are looking to limit their advertising of some key positions to our organization and geographic area. If you did not accept my initial invitation to join our group, please reconsider.
